  • Grayson Calls Level of Uninsured a “holocaust”

By: Jessica Weinstein and Chad Pergram, Fox News Channel

He’s back in the hot seat again.

Tuesday, Rep. Alan Grayson (D-FL) warned that the Republican health care plan was to “die quickly.”

On Wednesday, Grayson riled up Republicans again, likening the lack of health care reform to a “holocaust in America.”

Republicans howled and threatened to try to sanction Grayson for his comments on Tuesday. This mirrored efforts by Democrats to punish Rep. Joe Wilson (R-SC) after he shouted “You lie!” at President Obama during a Joint Session of Congress.

On Wednesday, Grayson refused to apologize.

“Because I said the truth,” Grayson noted in an interview with FOX News.

But the Florida Democrat did apologize. At least in one context. Grayson again took to the floor after speaking with FOX.

“I apologize to the dead and their families that we haven’t voted sooner to end this holocaust in America.”

Republicans again opened fire on Grayson.

“This is an individual who has established a pathological pattern of unstable behavior,” said Ken Spain, spokesman for the National Republican Congressional Committee. “Alan Grayson not only refuses to apologize, but he is doubling down on his despicable remarks and he is dragging his party down with him.”

Grayson said that’s the kind of response he expects from the GOP.

“They simply attack me. Which means they’ve got nothing,” he said.

And Grayson was more than willing to challenge Republicans.

“I think that the Democrats are sick and tired of being kicked around with death panels. We’re sick of it. They have nothing to offer (on health care) themselves,” Grayson said.

Earlier Wednesday, the fourth-highest ranking Democrat in the House, Rep. John Larson (D-CT) said he didn’t think the House should punish Grayson in the same fashion that it penalized Wilson. Larson pointed out that Wilson broke a rule of the House which prohibits lawmakers from accusing the president of “lying” or being a “liar.”

“I wouldn’t have used the words Mr. Grayson has,” Larson said. “But I would encourage Alan to apologize.”

Grayson later disputed the context Larson was using to call for an apology.

In addition, Larson mentioned three House Republicans by name whom he thought had recently made comments that were similar to Grayson’s remarks. And Larson insinuated that those lawmakers should not be penalized either.

I have a close relative that has some of the best doctors in this state for heart; diabetes; and general health. All paid for by the state or feds. If there is not free health care, What in the heck do you call my relative is getting. What kind of Utopia does Mister Grayson think the govt. will create IF it takes over health care? People die under medicaid and medicare insurance now. How about that for a holocaust....Government sponsored!!!

i am ashamed to say this 'representitive of the people' comes from my state. the holocost was a systematic effort by a (one) madman to exterminate an entire race of people, as well as those with mental illness, those who belevied in God, and those who he declared 'undesirable'. NOWHERE has any person in this country advocated any of these actions be taken against any group. greyson has abviously lost his mind and needs to be baker acted fo his own saftey and the saftey of those around him. i would be very afraid of this person in congress, he shows the type of instability that is exhibited by those who return thier workplace and kill everyone there.

It is clear that both the democrats and republicans have a problem with graft and corruption. Rep. Grayson stated is the truth. The republican party and insurance companies have gone out of their way to torpedo the healthcare legislation. They have lied, and used fear tactics. On the side, the democrats they have pandered to the insurance companies, and their voting shows it in the finance committee. Another thing the finance committee should be required to take a college primer course in mathematics. Our official representatives should not be caught stating the are bad at math as they were last week in committee sessions aired on public T.V.. These people have graduated from top end universities for heaven sake. Last time I was in University they had entrance exams that required math. The bottom line is the Congress needs to get off its butt and get busy doing the people's business rather than the business for corporations, insurance companies, and wall street. It is apparent that the 40 million people need health care many are dying. Get busy in the house and senate and get legislation that will help the people of the United States.

Sorry, but when are we going to get "Adult" representation in the House and Senate and preferrably the White House. I am sick and tired of constantly seeing these attacks, not only amongst themselves but directed towards the citizens of this country. All of these people up there are representing one thing and one thing only, their own bank accounts and lifestyle and have no regard or respect for anyone else, they despise anyone who would dare call them out and speak against them. Well it's time there luxuries are taken away and bring them to the real level of America. The working America.

Grayson just couldn’t sleep the night before. He finally found an opening! A way to get his name out there. Problem is, those who elected him are far smarter than he is and his incredible stupidly has set them all back before the Internet era. This guy is a real chump. I doubt he’ll get past 2010. Grayson does not need to apology to anyone for his comments. His apology should be to the human race for pretending to be one. However, keep it up Grayson…the Republicans could not have a more beneficial opponent.

the fact that he won't appologize to anyone, ANYONE! shows that he hasn't read the bill. mr grayson i don't want to be paying for your and your party's mistakes. and what liberals don't understand is that this will cost over 12 trillion dollars in taxpayers money in the next ten years if passed. and obama promised by partisanship, but he block republican views. when joe wilson could not hold his tounge, he appologized. grayson has not and noone from his party is having him appologize. miss pelosi, get control of the house or leave.
