  • With No Fanfare, Senate Hits ACORN, Again

With no fanfare and no roll call vote, not even a speech -- the Senate on Tuesday unanimously approved an amendment by Sen. Mike Johanns, R-NE, that bars any funds from the Defense spending bill from going to ACORN.

Johanns promised to introduce a similar amendment on every spending bill Congress considers this year, until the chamber takes up his broader bill that would impose permanent ban on ACORN receiving any federal funds.

It took the Senate a little over one minute to consider the measure.

Sometimes even the US Congress can make a decision without messing it up. Most everyone I know came to the same conclusion about ACORN quite awhile back.

I hope the senate and congress make good on dealing with Acorn and ending all support... If corruption and criminal activity doesn't have a follow thru then we the people have the responsibility to get rid of the of the equally corrupt and criminal congress and senate! late idea for the narcisstic.... too bad 5000 earmarks couldn't be taken off the unread stimulus bill... the constituents would have been falling all over themseves with CHANGE! And then they would have been able to cram socialistic healthcare down our throats before we new it...

Is it true that Brock Obama is trying to make us, the citizens declare our guns with our next when we fill out our incometax?

Finally, someone is unraveling the corruption from Washington to Special Interest Groups like ACORN. If they would just continue to stop funds for this organization, maybe it would send a message that politicians can't be bought anymore.

It's about time this radical organization had its federal (our money) funding cut off! Until a full investigation and remedial actions are put in place, this organization should not receive any more federal funding, period.

I urge everyone to contact your Congressmen, Governor, and the Attorney General and push for a full in-depth investigation of ACORN and all their illegal activities.

These people in congress are fearing for their jobs. It's about time - like the rest of us - they must be accountable for where they spend OUR money. What's good for every day Americans - those of us producing goods and services - is also good for those spending our hard earned dollars. Congress and Public or Federal Employees need to reap what they sow in benefits, retirement and all else they legislate.

It is about time. I knew about Acorn and how corrupt they are over 6 months ago. Thanks to Glenn Beck, I have kept informed about all the corrupt stuff going on in Washington. Because the Fringe media is in bed with 'the mighty one' Obama I can only count on Fox News to give me news in my world. What a shame the news media is just as corrupt as the Democratic machine.

It looks like the Senate is finally coming to its senses and listening to it's constituents (for a change). Hopefully this is the beginning of the total demise of the corrupt ACORN organization and maybe the curtailment of the SEIU and their bully tactics such as CARD CHECK. If union members are not bulldozed by open ballots where they open themselves up to being targets for the union thugs the power that these unions have may finally be contained.
