  • Barton says Waxman doesn't have "the nuts"

"He doesn't have the votes to pass the bill. He has got a chance to get the votes. If you are familiar with Texas Hold 'em poker, he doesn't have the nuts."

---Rep. Joe Barton (R-TX), the top Republican on the House Energy and Commerce committee, explaining Thursday that he does not believe that committee chairman, Rep. Henry Waxman (D-CA) has the votes for the latest version of the Cap and Trade energy bill.

Rep. Fred Upton (R-MI) tried to step in during the press conference announcing the GOP alternative energy plan and get Barton back to the business at hand but the Texas Republican was intent on explaining himself.

"Nor do I," Barton added, presumably referring to 'the nuts.'

"I wouldn't explain it any more," Upton interjected.

But Barton could not help himself, adding, "we will see which has the other side by the nuts next week."

Waxman doesn't even know what is in this bill. Also, no one in Congress has read it and we want to tax our citizens trillions of dollars because some people fear global warming. Well, I fear a big tax bill that is for nothing. Solar and wind "green" energy is 10 years away, if it happens at all. This is a bill to put money in the hands of companies that are tied up with the Obama administration like GE.... Help, what is the hurry? Let's read and discuss this before it's too late! Oh, and let's take our own oil out of the ground and use it. Wake up, Americans!

This is a simple folks, if you pollute, you pay. Republicans are freaking out (or maybe shielding their "sponsors") because energy companies will pass the burden to consumers if they get capped. Guess what, for every crisis, there will be oppurtunity, small companies that provides electricity thru clean energy will flourished and greedy companies will be left out. Think of GM folks, they could be on top of their game if they only develop cars that requires less or no gasoline at all. Nissan will have it by the summer. Their Volt will not be available until the end of 2010. Pathetic!

cap and tax is another way for the socialist movement to cripple the economy and the taxpayers. The main goal is not building a new "clean" economy for the citizens, it is building a political powergrid through deception and corruption. This is al gores folly and he is trying to become the first eco-terrorist billionaire based on all his science fiction.

If Waxman is the Chairman of Energy & Commerce Commission - how can he get anything done when by supporting the erroneous assumption that saving the planet from the ravages of climate change it will transform our economy and protect our security. This is a direct quote from a e-mail from Tammy Baldwin of Wisconsin who is going to work with Waxman. Are these people all suffering from Climate Change Derangement Syndrome and is this their excuse for changing any and all established government procedures and programs to fit into their socialistic view of the world by scaring people half to death claiming the water levels worldwide are rising thereby excusing programs such as Cap and Trade etc. ARE WE CHANGING THIS AND TURNING IT AROUND IN 2010 OR ARE WE REMAINING ASLEEP IN FRONT OF OUR TELEVISION SETs TUNED TO CSNBC?

You might start by doing your own research instead of believing the pseudo-political swill about mankind's omniscient powers to change planetary conditions. Start making your own decisions instead of letting others interpret the evidence for you.

I hope that the yea or nay on a policy that would be essentially a regressive tax on middle to *lower income people wouldn't come down to a game of political chicken between Dems and the GOP. * Gov't budget research shows that middle and lower income folks spend more (10 - 30%) of their income on energy bills than do upper income (less than 5%). So if Waxman (not the planet) wins who loses? The groups that Obama promised would get the most breaks. Every industry that has had gov't forced increased costs passes that increase straight to the consumers for the most part. So we go green while a few billion people in Asia and Russia keep polluting? Some help.

Any grocery store can provide Mr. Waxman with the necessary ingredients-peanut, cashew, macadmaia..

So barton, like the rest of the republicans who have no answers or ideas for the problems of the country, will just be obstructionist. We should welcome them to the political wilderness along with their leader limbaugfh.
